Fire burning along Soda Canyon Road

Residences being evacuated as wildfire burns.

Fire crews are battling a blaze that has engulfed about 50 acres in the area of Soda Canyon Road, according to Napa County Fire Department officials.

The blaze was reported at around 8:45 p.m. near Silverado Trail at Soda Canyon Road and Loma Vista Drive and fire crews have evacuated nearby residences, according to Battalion Chief Pete Munoa.

Two outbuildings have been destroyed by the blaze, he said. No injuries have been reported.

A power pole was reported down shortly before 10:30 p.m. in the area of Soda Canyon Road and Old Soda Spring Road, according to the Napa County Sheriff's Office.

About 15 minutes later, a warning was issued by the sheriff's office to avoid the Soda Canyon area due to a fire, and that evacuations were underway.
