Fire 75 Percent Contained

The 200-acre fire reported on Thursday is nearly completely contained after hundreds of firefighters battle the blaze.

A north of Napa is 75 percent contained this evening, Cal Fire officials said.

Cal Fire had previously estimated the size of the fire at 60 acres, but after sending a plane over the area to estimate the damage, the estimate was raised to 200 acres.

Winds subsided overnight, allowing firefighters to make progress and mitigate the threat to three homes in the area of the fire in the 3200 block of Soda Canyon Road near the Silverado Trail in unincorporated Napa County, Hutchinson said.

The source of the fire was a controlled burn in the area that spread to the brush-covered hillsides in steep terrain, Hutchinson said.
