Elderly Driver Strikes 2 Women, Child in Stroller

Accident took place Wednesday night in American Canyon.

An 81-year-old American Canyon man struck two female pedestrians and a child in a stroller Wednesday night in American Canyon.

Napa County Sheriff's Capt. Tracey Stuart said the crash took place at about 9 p.m., when Robert Harris of American Canyon, was northbound on Danrose Drive.

The car Harris was driving struck two women and a child in a stroller who were in the crosswalk, walking westbound on Danrose at Northhampton Drive.

"It doesn’t appear Harris was intoxicated or speeding, and he says he never saw the pedestrians before the collision," Stuart said Thursday.

Stuart said one woman, Sarbjeet Kaur, 55, of American Canyon, has a head injury. The other, Sukhjeet Kaur,  32, of American Canyon, has scrapes and complaint of pain. The boy, Paramakaal Riat, male, 16 months, has an abrasion to his head.

All three were transported to Queen of the Valley Medical Center. The child was then transferred to Oakland Children’s Hospital.

No information on their medical conditions was immediately available.

Napa County Sheriff's traffic accident investigation team is looking into the incident, Stuart said.
