Driver Jailed for DUI after Multiple Crashes

He left a trail of damaged cars and property along Freeway Drive before police caught up with his Mustang when it crashed. Here's the police report to follow up our breaking news story from Sunday night.

A shift activity log from the reports that the 62-year-old driver of a was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and hit and run:

NPD Officers responded to a numerous reports that a vehicle had collided with at least two vehicles, signs, and fences from Laurel and Freeway Drive to Freeway and Old Sonoma Road.  

The suspect vehicle was located with major damage on Freeway at Old Sonoma Road. Evidence was developed at the scene and the driver was identified as Juan Pablo Santiago (12/8/49) of Napa.

Santiago was determined to be intoxicated and was later booked into .

Santiago’s unidentified male passenger sustained major injuries and was treated at .

The resulting collision investigation caused Freeway Dr to be closed temporarily from Pine Street to Old Sonoma Road. 

Santiago was booked at the jail on suspicion of drunk driving causing death or injury and non-injury hit and run following the Sunday-evening incident.
