5 Kids, Driver Escape Major Injury in Napa Rollover Crash

A motorist and five children, two in car seats, suffered only minor injuries after their minivan rolled over in a two-vehicle crash in north Napa Sunday afternoon.

Just after 1 p.m. Sunday, a Honda Pilot SUV and another car collided at the intersection of Trancas Street and the northbound off ramp from Highway 29 in north Napa.

The Honda rolled over and ended upside down. Its driver and five children, two in car seats, suffered minor injuries and were taken to Queen of the Valley Medical Center to be checked out, firefighters said.

The driver from the other car was not injured.

Cars are always turning right from the 29 off ramp onto Trancas in front of cars that have the right of way. This kind of collision was going to happen sooner or later. Fortunately no serious injuries.

Hey, accidents happen. I say SOMEBODY was looking out for them. I saw it and it looked bad. So happy everyone was okay. Could have been much worse!

Not all car accidents are caused by cell phones. Stop judging.

The exit from Northbound Highway 29 onto Redwood Road/Trancas Street is a dangerous one. When a motorist is exiting onto Trancas Street from NB Hwy 29, most are not aware that it is a DOUBLE RIGHT TURN LANE. I have almost been side swiped by other vehicles there numerous times simply because drivers turn right onto Trancas and drift over into the left lanes without looking. I've been honked at, given dirty looks, and been flipped the bird. I even had a woman follow me into Target to yell at me for almost hitting her! I had to explain to her that it was a double right turn lane and that if she had hit me, then she would have been at fault. She argued and argued with me that I was wrong. Maybe there should be some signs placed at the intersection so more drivers will notice that it is a double right turn lane. I don't think many people pay attention to the directional arrows painted on the pavement.

Jennifer W, that's a great point, I have had the same thing happen at that intersection.
