Domestic Violence Arrest at River Camp
An encampment near the river trail behind Soscol Avenue was the scene of a reported domestic assault Tuesday afternoon, according to police. Arrest information does not indicate a conviction.
A woman’s cries for help led to the arrest of a 36-year-old Napa man Wednesday afternoon, according to a shift activity log released by the :
On 02/29/2012 Napa Police Officers were dispatched to the area of the river trail to the rear of the 2800 block of Soscol Avenue for reports of a woman heard calling for help.
On arrival the officers located the suspect, Michael Downing Jr. (36 yrs./Napa), and the victim in a camp that had been set up.

The victim related to the officers that the Downing had assaulted her causing minor injury.
A records check showed that Downing was currently on Napa County Probation and that there was a current Domestic Violence Restraining Order prohibiting Downing from contacting the victim.

Downing was taken into custody and booked at the on suspicion of domestic battery, violation of a domestic violence restraining Order and violation of probation, according to police.
