The Solano County coroner's office has identified the driver who was killed in a vehicle crash on westbound Interstate Highway 80 in Vallejo Thursday evening as Jose Segura-Contreras of Napa.

Segura-Contreras was driving I-80 east of state Highway 37 around 7:45 p.m. when he lost control of his 1998 Toyota Camry and spun to the right across the westbound lanes, the California Highway Patrol said.

Rouvim Bodnar, 37, of Damascus Ore., who was driving a 2010 Volvo truck with a trailer west on I-80, was unable to avoid hitting the Toyota as it crossed the highway, the CHP said.

The front of the big-rig struck the left front of the Toyota. Both vehicles sustained major damage.

The Toyota came to rest on the right shoulder and the big rig was driven to the right shoulder several hundred feet away, the CHP said.

Segura-Contreras was wearing seat restraints and the air bags deployed in his Toyota, the CHP said.

Alcohol or drugs are not suspected to be a cause of the crash, the CHP said.

Segura-Contreras was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:01 p.m. The big-rig driver was not injured.
