Cop Shoots Man in Napa Backyard

A foot pursuit late Sunday ended with a struggle between the suspect and the officer, who fired one round. The injured man is at Queen of the Valley Hospital and the officer is on administrative leave, according to Napa police.

 

The following press release was issued early Monday morning by the :

On May 13, 2012, at approximately 10:59 PM a Napa Police Officer contacted a subject in the 2100 block of Parrish Rd in south east Napa. A foot pursuit ensued and a struggle between the officer and the subject took place in a backyard. The officer fired one round from his service pistol. The subject was struck by the round and was later transported to where he is currently being treated.

The Napa County Major Crimes Task Force has been activated and the lead agency for this investigation will be the . A follow-up press release will be distributed later today.

At this time, as per standard department policy the officer involved has been placed on administrative leave.
