City Sued by Family of Man Killed by Napa Cop
Richard Poccia's fatal shooting by Napa police has led his family to sue the city, the Napa Police Department and two officers involved in the November, 2010 killing, according to the Napa Valley Register.
On Nov. 28, 2010, 60-year-old Napa resident Richard Poccia was fatally shot by police in front of his Alta Heights home after acquaintances had reported he was distraught and might be armed.
Although a county investigation concluded the officers had committed no wrongdoing, Poccia's widow and daughter are suing the city and police over his death.

Earlier this month, according to a report in the , a federal judge dismissed charges against Napa Police Chief Rich Melton, but allowed the family's lawsuit to go forward against the city, the Napa Police Department and two police officers: Brad Baker, who shocked Poccia with a Taser, and Nick Dalessi, who killed Poccia with a rifle shot to the back of the head.
