Big-Rig Hauling Wine Rolls on Hwy 29, Blocking Traffic at 121

Southbound lanes were closed for nearly three hours as diesel, oil and red wine leaked from the capsized truck and trailer.

Update, 4:15 p.m.: All lanes are open.

Update, 3:45pm: Hwy 121 is also jammed. KCBS Traffic reports that authorities hope to have the roadway clear by 4 p.m.

Just after 1pm Wednesday, personnel from the Napa fire and police departments responded to the report of an accident at Highway 29 at Highway 121 (Sonoma Highway).

They found a big rig on its side in the southbound lanes of Highway 29.

The truck was leaking oil and diesel fuel onto the roadway and the trailer was leaking red wine in the center divider.

The driver suffered minor injuries in the crash.

South bound traffic on Highway 29 was backed up from the accident to the Old Sonoma Road overpass. The cleanup is expected to be a lengthy process.  

Authorities are advising motorists to avoid the area until further notice.
