Bicyclist Suffers Head Injury in Collision

The following information was provided by the City of Napa Police Department.

responded to a report of a female down and bleeding from the head at Jefferson St and Tallac St at 5:47 p.m. While responding to the scene the call was upgraded to a bicyclist versus a motor vehicle and the victim, identified as Christine Hannah of Napa, 59, was bleeding from the head. She was transported to and air lifted to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital. Her condition is unknown.

UPDATE: As of 9:30 pm, Christine Hannah was still in the emergency room at Santa Rosa Memorial, but her condition was listed as stable.

The driver of the vehicle, Rafael Menchaca, 31, Napa resident, was contacted at the scene. Witness statements indicate that Hannah struck the drivers’ side door when it was opened in her path. She was not wearing a helmet and struck her head when she landed on the pavement.

The Napa Police Reconstruction Team responded and took over the investigation. The roadway was shut down for approximately one hour during the course of the investigation.

It does not appear alcohol was a factor and the Napa Police are requesting any witnesses to contact Officer Metz at 257-9223.
