Autopsy This Week for Man Who Apparently Drowned at 'Soda Hole'

An autopsy will be done this week on a 26-year-old Napa-area homeless man who apparently drowned Friday at a popular swimming spot called "Soda Hole," according to Napa County Sheriff's Capt. Tracey Stuart.

Ray Anthony Scott was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:44 p.m., Stuart said Monday. There was nothing suspicious at the scene, she added.  

The incident began at about 2:05 p.m. Friday, when deputies and fire personnel were dispatched to the 1900 block of Soda Canyon Road for a possible drowning.

Stuart said a woman called 911 after she was flagged down in the 1900 block of Soda Canyon Road by a person who reported that a friend had just drowned at the “Soda Hole,”  and that another person was performing CPR.

 A 26-year-old male, Ray Anthony Scott, was pronounced deceased at the scene at 2:44 pm.  Scott, who was homeless in Napa, had gone there with five friends to swim, Stuart said.
