AmCan Man Suffers Major Injuries in Dump Truck Rollover Crash on Milton Road

39-year-old man taken to Queen of the Valley Medical Center with major injuries.

A 39-year-old American Canyon man suffered major injuries Sunday when the loaded dump truck he was driving drifted off to a dirt shoulder, and then overturned when the driver tried to correct the direction.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occured at 1:50 p.m. when Miguel Duran Lemus, 39, of American Canyon, was driving a 2003 Freightliner three-axle dump truck, full of soil, traveling southbound on Milton Road, just south of Las Amigas Road at 40 mph.

Lemus allowed his vehicle to travel off the paved portion of the road onto the west dirt shoulder of Milton Road, the CHP said.  Lemus then attempted to turn his vehicle to the left.

The vehicle then traveled across Milton Road in a south-easterly direction, traveling onto the east shoulder and then back towards the west shoulder when the vehicle overturned onto its left side, the CHP said.

The dump truck came to rest on its left side blocking both northbound and southbound Milton Road.  Milton Road was blocked for approximately three hours.  Local residents used the dirt shoulder on either sides of the collision scene.

Lemus was transported to Queen of the Valley hospital by AMR ground ambulance with major injuries, the CHP said.
