Two Jailed in Thefts of Gun and Truck

A Napa man is accused of stealing a truck and a Vallejo woman faces charges for stealing a loaded gun, according to Napa police. Arrest information does not indicate a conviction.

Napa police made arrests in two separate incidents involving stolen property over the weekend, according to a shift activity log released by the . One case took officers out of town to Vallejo Sunday morning, according to the log:

On 4-14-2012 at about 1010 hours, a victim reported the suspect, Amanda Marie Avilla, 8-19-82 Vallejo resident, had stolen a loaded firearm from his residence. 

A warrant was obtained for her arrest, as well as a search warrant for her residence. At about 0830 hours, during the service of the search warrant at a hotel in the 0 hundred block of Admiral Callaghan Lane in Vallejo, Avilla was arrested and found in possession of the stolen loaded firearm and a controlled substance.

Avilla was arrested and booked into the  on suspicion of grand theft (firearm), possession of a controlled substance and being armed while in commission of a felony, according to police. 

Saturday morning, police arrested a homeless man on suspicion of stealing a truck from a downtown Napa business the day before, according to the log:

At about 0830 hours, NPD Officers received information that Albert Lee Hill 62 years Transient, was possibly driving around in a stolen truck. 

During the investigation, it was determined Hill stole the truck on 4-13-2012 at about 1330 hours, from a business in the 2200 block of Brown St.  It was determined that Hill entered the business with the intention of stealing the truck. He stole the keys and then stole the truck. 

A broadcast was issued to the surrounding agencies and deputies from the located Hill and the stolen truck on Tower Road on 4-14-2012 at about 0930. He was detained and then arrested by NPD officers. 

Hill had been was released on his own recognizance from the jail pending court on previous charges, according to police, and was arrested for committing a felony while on pre-trial release and for violating his county probation.

The truck was returned to the business from which it had been taken, according to the log.
