80-Year-Old Woman Arrested For Allegedly Striking Husband With Cane

Suspect charged with alleged domestic violence with minor injury.

   
An 80-year-old Napa woman was arrested at about 1:30 p.m. New Year's Day after she allegedly struck her husband with a cane during a dispute.

Rheda Kathryn Hayes was taken into custody at a home in the 2400 block of Carriage Place in Napa on suspicion of domestic violence with minor injury.

On Jan. 1 at 1:24 p.m., officers were dispatched to the report of domestic violence incident at a residence in the 2400 block of Carriage Place.

Officers arrived and contacted the victim -- a man who was not identified -- and Hayes. The man told the officers that he and his wife were arguing when his wife became angry and threw a vase at him, which missed.

She then picked up a cane and struck the man in the hand causing a laceration. The victim was able to get the cane from Hayes. The police were called.

The man was transported by ambulance to Queen of the Valley Medical Center. 

Hayes was taken into custody, transported and booked in Napa County Department of Corrections.
