7-Car Crash Ties Up Hwy. 29 in Napa Monday Night

Several drivers suffer minor injuries.

A seven-car, head-on crash Monday night on Highway 29 resulted in minor injuries to several drivers, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP Officer Anna Paulson said the accident occurred just before 8 p.m. on Highway 29 southbound just south of Manley Lane.

According to the CHP, a 1998 Dodge Ram pickup driven by Nicholas Masters, 66, of Lower Lake, was traveling northbound at an unknown rate of speed when, for unknown reasons, Masters allowed his truck to cross over the double yellow lines, across a 2-foot asphalt center median, and into the southbound lane.

Masters' truck traveled directly into the path of a 2010 Chevy Equinox driven by Janet Myers, 49, of Napa. Masters' truck collided into the left side of Myers' Chevy, which sustained moderate damage.

Masters' truck continued in a northerly direction in the southbound lane where it then collided with the left front of a 1990 Toyota Cressida driven by Steven Nagle, 59, of Suisun City. Nagle's Cressida sustained moderate damage.

Then, Masters' truck collided into the left side of a 2013 Merz E-350 driven by Douglas Perks, 67 of North Vancouver, B.C.. Perks' vehicle sustained minor damage.

The truck then collided with left rear of a 2013 GMC Terrain driven by Megan Balaguy, 32, of Napa, a 2013 Dodge Dart drive by Maria Vargas, 36, of Napa, and a 2006 Dodge Ram pickup driven by Jose Rangel Lara, 39, of Vallejo.

Masters, Nagle and Vargas were all transported to Queen of the Valley Medical Center by AMR ambulance with minor injuries.

Paulson said alcohol ordrugs do not appear to be a factor in this collision.

Vargas' vehicle and the pickup truck driven by Lara both sustained major damages. Masters' truck sustained major collision damages, the CHP said.

No arrests were reported in the crash.
