4 Arrested After Struggle With Police

Suspects allegedly resisted arrest when police arrived.

Three men and one woman were arrested on suspicion of obstruction, resisting arrest and a warrant after a scuffle with Napa Police.

Napans Miriam Margarita Hernandez, 44, Felipe DeJesus Hernandez, 49, Felipe Jesus Hernandez, 23, and Fairfield resident Ismael Hernandez, 32, were taken into custody at about 5 p.m. Monday at a residence in the 2100 block of Schoolhouse Court in Napa.

Police said an officer observed Felipe Hernandez in the driveway of a residence in the 2100 block of Schoolhouse Ct.

The officer had previous knowledge that Felipe had a warrant for his arrest and initiated contact. Felipe immediately fled into the backyard, followed by the officer. Felipe ran in a back door and up some stairs to the second floor.

The officer followed him into the house, but saw it was occupied my numerous people, so he continued directly out the front door to wait for additional officers. Units arrived and a perimeter was established. Meanwhile numerous people came out of the house.

A perimeter unit broadcast that Felipe was seen going over a fence. Officers started to go back into the yard and Felipe’s mother, Miriam Hernandez  grabbed an officer from behind and a struggle ensued.

She was taken into custody, but then her husband, Felipe Hernandez Sr  jumped on an officer’s back and also was taken into custody.

While all that was going on, another relative, Ismael Hernandez went after the officer taking Miriam into custody and force was used to keep him back.

The crowd then started to advance on the officers and OC spray was deployed at several people after they did not respond to the lawful commands to stay back. Ismael moved away, but was later located still at the scene and taken into custody.

Felipe Jr was eventually located hiding in a child’s playhouse in the neighbor’s backyard.

All four named subjects were arrested and booked.
