3 Arrested, 4 Warrants to Be Issued After Sex Offender Compliance Sweep

8 agencies in the Sexual Assault Felony Enforcement Task Force check compliance.

On June 7, between 1 p.m. and 10 p.m., a law enforcement task force consisting of representatives from eight different agencies conducted compliance checks on all registered sex offenders living within Napa County.

That included the cities of Napa, American Canyon, St. Helena, Calistoga and the Town of Yountville. Compliance checks are designed to ensure the registrant is complying with the residency registration requirements as specified by California Penal Code 290.
T
here are a total of 372 registered sex offenders who are listed as living in Napa County. Of that number, 134 are at Napa State Hospital, 12 are in custody, and 11 were deported or are out of state. The Task Force attempted contact with 185 registrants. Two were arrested for unrelated warrants, and one was arrested for failing to register her current address.

After the sweep on June 7, investigators were left with 30 registrants who still needed to be contacted. As of today, June 18, there is one registrant who still needs to be contacted and four whom investigators will be requesting warrants to arrest

Typically, for registrants complying with the registration requirements, a compliance check consists of a low-profile contact at their homes to confirm and validate that their residency matches the state registration database. Additionally, for those who are on probation or parole, we confirm that they are following the terms and conditions of their probation or parole.

Agencies that participated in the Sexual Assault Felony Enforcement Task Force compliance check include: Santa Clara Sheriff’s Office, Del Norte Sheriff’s Office, Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office, Napa Police Department, Napa County Sheriff’s Office, Napa County Probation, Napa District Attorney’s Office, and California State Parole.
