2 Napa Men Arrested for Alleged Skateboard Heist at School District Office

Incident occurs at Napa Unified School District office.

Two Napa men were arrested on suspicion of stealing a skateboard from the Napa Unified School District office.

Damien Lee Clay, 18, and Darren Lee Thompson, 22, were taken into custody earlier this month at the district office.

The incident began Jan. 10 when Napa Police responded to a report of a burglary at  the school district office.

The officer contacted a school district employee who stated that an unknown person entered two of the rooms within the district office building between the hours of 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m., while employees were at lunch, and stole a skateboard and a small amount of money.

The officer was able to obtain surveillance video that showed a male in his early 20s going into the building at 1:06 p.m.

At 1:26 p.m., the video shows the employees retuning and entering the building while the suspect was still inside.

Immediately after the employees enter the building, the video shows the suspect leaving the building with the skateboard in his hand.

The officer recognized the suspect from the video as a subject he contacted in the downtown area of Napa.

The officer took a still photo of the suspect and showed it to another officer who identified the suspect as Clay.

Both officers conducted an area check in the downtown area and located Clay walking with Thompson in the area of Fourth Street in Napa.

Thompson was carrying the stolen skateboard. When asked about the skateboard, Thompson said he found the skateboard in some bushes nearby.

Clay and Thompson were arrested and transported to Napa County Department of Corrections, where they were booked.

Clay was booked for burglary and violation of probation. Thompson was booked for being in possession of stolen property.
