2 Napa County Fugitives Arrrested

The law caught up with Deryl Binstock and Antonio Simi not long after their names were added to the Napa Valley Crime Stoppers list of wanted fugitives.

Two men recently listed by Napa Valley Crime Stoppers as fugitives from justice were soon returned to custody, according to arrest information from the Napa County Sheriff's Office:

Wanted for felony failure to appear on a charge of possession of a controlled substance, Deryl Edward Binstock was arrested Jan. 10.

Wanted for felony burglary, receiving stolen property and forgery, with a prior prison enhancement, Antonio Casimiro Simi was arrested Jan. 13, according to the sheriff's office.

What they fail to mention is that within one day Binstock was released. . . This is an ongoing pattern with our jails and courts. These repeat offenders get arrested and released from jail as quick as often as we go to the grocery store.

He was only wanted for failure to appear in court. It's an administrative thing. When people like him, a non-violent drug offender, don't follow up the terms of their citations or sentences, they get put on this list; but that doesn't mean they need to be locked up in the jail indefinitely.

I know the back story on this guy and his brother. . . They have been in and out for the last year over and over- the police even told us because of all the prison over crowding the courts release them faster than they arrest them- its just typical bureaucratic nonsense

Yes, they've both been in the police blotter lately. But is our jail really the place for non-violent suspected drug users? I'd love to know what others think.

I believe drugs lead to a lot of violent incidents. Would you rather have these drug dealers (that is what these two are, not just users) on the streets selling to our minors???? And one of these two "non-violent" criminals has been in San Quentin and currently has a restraining order against him for threatening to kill someone and their entire family. While the other has already been arrested for coming after 3 people with a baseball bat. . . tell me that they are non-violent criminals . . . So yes jail is the place for these two individuals. How do I know this, my maiden name is Binstock and I am one that has been threatened to be killed. I am tired of people like this on our streets getting chance after chance . . . they are nearly 60 years old do you think these people will be rehabilitated????

And as far as the blogs being on the news stream, I can't change that except to keep the blogs mostly at the bottom and the news on top. The new platform is designed to highlight the blogs more than they were before. Occasionally if there is a timely, useful or highly newsworthy blog post I will move it up, but in general the news will be in the first 5 slots and the blog below. Hope that helps. Keri

Maybe those among us who feel superior could try to take a moment or more to see life from the perspective of someone who (even from a position of pain or vulnerability) has too much pride to accept the stigma of being in need of the social translation of "the lowest of the low" homeless shelter or addiction counseling. It feels good to try lifting others up rather than tearing them down; Maybe your smile or expression of something other than disgust could make a positive difference to move a person in need toward help.

And unlike Google+ and FB, Napa Valley Patch didn't "come out", we had a NVP that was working perfectly fine and Corporate Patch decided to upgrade. Can you imagine the ether-riots if FB did an "upgrade" full of glitches and bugs"?
