2 Men Held on DUI, Stolen Gun Charges After Traffic Stop

CHP stops minivan on Highway 29 early Wednesday morning

 

A 28-year-old Calistoga man and a 23-year old Napa man were arrested early today after a traffic stop on southbound Highway 29 north of Highway 12, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP spokesman Jake Ramos said officers stopped a 1996 GMC Safari minivan just after midnight Wednesday on suspicion of expired registration plates. The driver, Emilio Cervantes of Calistoga, was subsequently arrested on suspicion of DUI.

CHP officers also arrested a passenger, Darwin Calvario of Napa, after an allegedly stolen and loaded 9mm pistol was found inside the car. Ramos said Calvario was arrested on suspicion of possession of a concealed stolen firearm.

Both men were booked at Napa County Department of Corrections on the above charges, Ramos said.
