ORIGINAL STORY: Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013 Two people died in a fiery solo vehicle crash Monday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Christopher Stade and Montana Montez, both 19 and Napa residents, died in the 10:50 p.m. accident on Coombsville Road just east of First Avenue.
According to the CHP report, Stade was driving a 1972 Ford pickup westbound on Coombsville Road at "a high rate of speed," the report said.
As Stade's vehicle traveled just east of First Avenue, the truck went off the north side of the roadway, continued across First Avenue and collided with a large tree on the west side of First Avenue.
The truck sustained major front end damage and caught fire, engulfing the entire vehicle, including Stade and Montez.
Both Stade and Montez were pronounced dead at the scene.
Alcohol involvement is being investigated, the CHP said. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
