1 of 3 Suspects Arrested in Alleged Trader Joe's Theft Scheme

3 woman allegedly worked together to steal a shopper's wallet.

A 25-year-old Sacramento woman was arrested Thursday evening on suspicion of receiving stolen property in connection with an incident at Trader Joe's, 3654 Bel Aire Plaza in Napa.

Kesha Dalia Dossman was taken into custody at 5:12 p.m. Thursday. Two other suspects in the incident are at large.

Police said they were notified Thursday evening by Napa Police Dispatch, which  received report of a theft that just occurred at Trader Joe`s at Bel Aire Plaza.

The reporting party advised a wallet had been taken and that a nearby CHP Officer was chasing a possible suspect. While en-route, the officer learned that CHP officers had a suspect detained in the area.

Officers contacted the victim in front of Trader Joe`s. She told the officers she was shopping inside the store and was in the produce section. She said her purse was in the child seat area of her shopping cart. Her wallet was inside the purse.

The victim said while shopping she was approached on her right side by a subject, referred to as Suspect 2, whom she described as a black female adult, in her 20s, approximately 5`5" tall and 130 lbs.

She was wearing a pink top. Suspect 2 began asking her numerous questions, concerning store items. While talking with Suspect 2, she noted another black female adult, referred to as Suspect 3, approached her on the left side.

Suspect 3 was described as young, approximately 5`4" tall and 160 lbs. She was wearing a black and white sweater and faded jeans.

The victim noticed Suspect 3 was very close to her and was pushing a shopping cart. She noted there was a gold purse in the child seat of Suspect 3's cart.

She ended the conversation with Suspect 2 and began to push her cart away. She immediately noticed her purse was wide open and her wallet was missing.

She pursued Suspect 3, cutting her off toward the end of an aisle. The victim said she began loudly saying her purse was missing.

Suspect 3 made a spontaneous statement saying, "I don`t have your wallet." The victim began confronting Suspect 3 concerning her wallet, while she made her way toward the front of the store.

During this time, Suspect 2 and Kesha Dossman were in close proximity of Suspect 3. Suspect 3 would not let her see inside of her purse.

Dossman walked up to Suspect 3 and took possession of the gold purse. Dossman hastily left the store and began to walk west thru the parking lot.

The victim followed Dossman and called 911 from her cell phone. A short time later, she noticed the CHP officer pursuing Dossman.

 The CHP officer was told by nearby citizens that the victim’s wallet was stolen inside the store and the alleged suspect was fleeing the scene.

The officers observed a female walking westbound though the Bel Aire Plaza parking lot, toward Trancas Street. He pursued her onto Trancas Street and noticed she walked along the west wall of "Pharmaca,"4020 Bel Aire Plaza.

He caught up to her along the west wall of "Pharmaca" and requested she stop. She complied and was taken back to Trader Joe`s. She possessed a large gold purse which contained numerous items.

She was later identified as Kesha Dossman.

The CHP officer and NPD officer retraced his pursuit path. Along the west wall of "Pharmaca," the victim’s wallet was located. The wallet was opened and disheveled. It contained victim’s identification and personal affects.

Kesha Dossman denied taking the wallet or owning the purse.

She was arrested and transported to Napa County Department of Corrections, where she was booked.

The other two suspects were not located and are still at large.

A 31-year-old Napa man was arrested by Napa Police on suspicion of drug and drug paraphernalia possession and probation violation after an incident at 2:51 a.m. Thursday.

Gabriel Afana was taken into custody in the vicinity of El Centro Avenue and Lantana Lane in Napa.

On June 6 at about 2:51 a.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Lantana Lane and El Centro Avenue for a report of a suspicious subject.

Dispatch advised the subject was looking around in cars and was last seen heading toward El Centro Avenue on Lantana Lane.

Officers contacted Gabriel Afana walking north on Lantana Street from Dillon Street. Afana was found to be on probation with search and seizure clause.

Officers searched Afana and allegedly found a syringe/hypodermic needle and a straw with a white residue in his sock.

Afana was placed under arrest for possession of a hypodermic needle, and violation of probation. 

He was booked into Napa County Department of Corrections.
