1 Man Injured, Arrested in 4-Car Crash Sunday on Silverado Trail

Head on crash north of Skellenger Lane.

A 58-year-old Napa man suffered minor to moderate injuries in a four-car crash Sunday on Silverado Trail north of Skellenger Lane, police said.

Jose Hernandez-Carbajal, who was transported to Queen of the Valley Medical Center after the 4 p.m. accident, was also arrested on suspicion of DUI, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Lisa Paulson.

Paulson said Hernandez-Carbajal was traveling northbound on the Silverado Trail when the accident occurred.

The other three cars involved were traveling southbound on Silverado Trail. Although it appears to have been a head-on crash involving a breach of the center divider line, Paulson said the report was incomplete and there was no word on how the collision took place or what caused it.

The other three drivers included:

--one hit and run, described only as a white Ford, driver unidentified;

--Rosa Diaz-Martinez, 42, of Fairfield. She had two passengers in the car.

--David Jessup, 27, of Napa.

Besides those of Hernandez-Carbajal, there were no other injuries reported, Paulson said.

Paulson said it was not immediately clear Monday whether Hernandez-Carbajal would be booked at Napa County Department of Corrections pending his release from the hospital -- or whether he had already been released.
