When Do You Take Down the Decorations?

It's a week after Christmas, and all through Napa Santa is still hanging around. When is the right time to take down the tree and bring in the lawn deer?

A month ago, seeing Santa was a cause for joy and wonder.

But by New Year's, shouldn't the jolly old elf be relieved of duty after all his hard work?

Instead, on Dec. 31 we found Mr. Claus still doing his best to entertain passersby on Dry Creek Road in rural Napa, gamely dangling from the jaws of a hungry-looking dinosaur.

Meanwhile, on Penny Lane, east of the city, one of the area's most colorful and celebrated holiday displays was already packed up on New Year's Eve.
