West End Napa Hotel Gets Top 10 Rating

Hotel Andaz Napa, the boutique hotel on the "West End" of Napa's First Street, gets high marks from the Guyot.com high-end travel website.

Locals don't often look for a place to stay in the Napa Valley, but everyone has friends or relatives who want to know: Where's the best place to stay?

Add to the debate Hotel Andaz Napa, recently named to a list of the Top 10 New Hotels in the U.S. by Gayot.com. It's not in the budget category, but it's here.

"This is a great honor for us, after only being an Andaz since September 7," said Aaron Feeny of the hotel's sales and marketing department. "We used to be the AVIA hotel and reflagged a couple months ago."

Gayot, pronounced "guy-oh," bills itself as the "guide to the good life," and fills its pages with Top 10 lists from all manner of topics: Top 10 Restaurants, Hotels, Spas, Cars, Movies and more, to increasingly granular categories, such as Top 10 Cars for Dogs or Top 10 Immune Boosters.

But the hotels listings are among their most popular, and to make the list of best new hotels is a coup for the new Andaz Napa, located at 1450 First Street at Franklin on the west side.

Wine metaphors flow freely in the Gayot write-up

"Hues of Bordeaux accent the 141 rooms, which are equipped with free Wi-Fi, blackout drapes and an in-room coffee maker. The on-premises restaurant, Farmer's Table, concocts local, seasonal fare and the lounge-y wine bar, Mercantile Social, is loaded with local wine. And if that's not enough, there are over a dozen vino tasting rooms within a few minutes' drive from the hotel."

Andaz is part of the Hyatt chain of hotels, with a boutique, cosmopolitan emphasis. Other domestic locations are found in San Diego, West Hollywood, Savannaha GA, and New York.

"To be here now in Downtown Napa and to see where it’s going to go in the near future is one of the most exciting periods of my career," said Andaz Napa General Manager Greg Nomura. "I’m grateful to see Andaz as part of this community.”

I'm so sorry to hear this. He was one of my favorites. I called in and got on the air with him onRead More WRKO in Boston once, and later was a guest on his food show when he did a live remote broadcast from Napa. RIP Gene, you were a literate and perceptive host.

M Dub....... There is always going to be a diversionary scandal or some other item to continue theRead More real power brokers' strategy of tension. You are a grown man, do as you please, but we are keeping an eye on the PNAC crown, this war based economy and how long this great country can sustain this fiscal hemorrhaging. Before you say it, we know. None of these fake parties are any help. We believe that you are greatly disappointed in your hometown, so are we. Man, we were fortunate enough to see her in her prime. It is great for ALL of us if Motor City makes a comeback. HRM

So what you are saying is you are Ok with the IRS scandal?
Jarvis William Peay May 26, 2013 at 01:41 pm
Come on, man. You are wasting our time and your energy. It is abundantly clear to even the postersRead More here that this admin and Congress are totally null and void. We thought that you were clever enough to know that if the other"party" held sway in the White House and the Capitol , there would be no difference for anyone. Come on man, the hour is growing late. Educate yourself, Rocky. HRM

MICHAEL WILSON May 20, 2013 at 08:40 am
Ya Wendy I do hope he returns. I am not sure why the police are calling him a runaway
Wendy Garcia May 20, 2013 at 05:17 am

Keri, I have heard from the tech people, and my instructions were to clear cache, erase cookies,Read More reboot, etc. All things having to do with my computer, not with the website. I get the same issues on two different computers at different homes as well as my iPad that is logged on anywhere. Pretty sure it is not on my end. There are far too many things that are a step down from previous site. Examples: Can't seperate paragraphs in comments, no "reply" option on comments makes it difficult to know who is responding to whom, itty-bitty profile avatars smaller than a pea, green on everything makes features less distinguishable, on and on.

Karen Garcia May 24, 2013 at 06:27 am
I normally don't complain about change at websites I visit frequently-- I usually find it prettyRead More easy to adapt. But this new Patch format is really confusing and not nearly as interesting and enticing as the original one.
Unfiltered Steve Simoneau May 17, 2013 at 05:33 pm
People hate change, that's why it's empty.
