West End Napa Hotel Gets Top 10 Rating

Hotel Andaz Napa, the boutique hotel on the "West End" of Napa's First Street, gets high marks from the Guyot.com high-end travel website.

Locals don't often look for a place to stay in the Napa Valley, but everyone has friends or relatives who want to know: Where's the best place to stay?

Add to the debate Hotel Andaz Napa, recently named to a list of the Top 10 New Hotels in the U.S. by Gayot.com. It's not in the budget category, but it's here.

"This is a great honor for us, after only being an Andaz since September 7," said Aaron Feeny of the hotel's sales and marketing department. "We used to be the AVIA hotel and reflagged a couple months ago."

Gayot, pronounced "guy-oh," bills itself as the "guide to the good life," and fills its pages with Top 10 lists from all manner of topics: Top 10 Restaurants, Hotels, Spas, Cars, Movies and more, to increasingly granular categories, such as Top 10 Cars for Dogs or Top 10 Immune Boosters.

But the hotels listings are among their most popular, and to make the list of best new hotels is a coup for the new Andaz Napa, located at 1450 First Street at Franklin on the west side.

Wine metaphors flow freely in the Gayot write-up

"Hues of Bordeaux accent the 141 rooms, which are equipped with free Wi-Fi, blackout drapes and an in-room coffee maker. The on-premises restaurant, Farmer's Table, concocts local, seasonal fare and the lounge-y wine bar, Mercantile Social, is loaded with local wine. And if that's not enough, there are over a dozen vino tasting rooms within a few minutes' drive from the hotel."

Andaz is part of the Hyatt chain of hotels, with a boutique, cosmopolitan emphasis. Other domestic locations are found in San Diego, West Hollywood, Savannaha GA, and New York.

"To be here now in Downtown Napa and to see where it’s going to go in the near future is one of the most exciting periods of my career," said Andaz Napa General Manager Greg Nomura. "I’m grateful to see Andaz as part of this community.”
