Point Blank: Final Presidential Debate or Game 7?

President Barack Obama and challenger Mitt Romney face off in their final debate this evening, while the San Francisco Giants battle the St. Louis Cardinals in Game 7 of the National League Championship. What will you watch? Tell us.

Talk about tough decisions.

If you follow both politics and baseball, tonight poses a viewing dilemma:

Do you watch the final debate between President Barack Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney?

Do you watch Game 7 of the National League Championship, when either the San Francisco Giants or the St. Louis Cardinals could break the tie and seize a World Series berth?

Do you switch between the two events, or try to watch them both at once?

Game 7 starts in AT&T Park at 5:07 p.m. local time. The debate begins at 6 p.m.

Which gets the lion's share of your attention tonight?

If you have a viewing plan, please let us know in the comments: Debate? Game? Both? Or neither?

Game all the way baby! You can watch the highlights of the debate but nothin beats the moment of the perfect play! Go Giants!!!

Go Giants!

It's not necessary to add stress to my life by watching two political talking heads compare egos and genital size. Unlike other contributors here who record the debate and memorize every.single.point.and.counterpoint.
I like baseball, it's fun, it makes me feel like all the problems of the world have tummy trouble and left to use the restroom for a while. It's amazing athletes living in the moment, using a stick and a little ball to battle over a huge green field. It's the poster child for OCD and superstition. Actually, I'd watch the political debate if we gave the opponents HUGE doses of perfomance enhancing steroids and then handed each one a bat.

Go Giants!

I got sick of political debates long ago. They say absolutely nothing about what the candidates actually do in office, and neither candidate can fix the issues of this country anyway.
Janeen DiRienzo October 22, 2012 at 04:41 pm
What debate? Go Giants!!!
Ptown October 22, 2012 at 04:42 pm
Game 7 of course
Louisa Hufstader (Editor) October 22, 2012 at 04:55 pm
So ... ball game for you, Paul?
Andrea Vee October 22, 2012 at 05:19 pm
Go Giants!!

LOL, Steve!

There are two sports I can't bear watching on T.V., baseball and golf. My husband will be watching the game, and I will be watching the Debate, after all it's about foreign policy, and I want to know what Romney will do about Iran and Syria.
Ron October 22, 2012 at 06:03 pm
Game. The debates are mainly theater. Most of us know who we are going to vote for and know enough about both of them to decide.
M.Legison October 22, 2012 at 06:34 pm
We will switch channels. This debate is by far the least important of the three, as foreign policy ranks far below economy and jobs for most voters, although it really shouldn't. Obama has not been as bad as the opposition paints him, until Libya which he royally botched, and Iran/Israel which he has generally avoided but can no longer do so. Neither Obama nor Romney are well versed in foreign affairs, unlike some previous presidents and candidates, but this debate is still going to be a contest for quotable lines rather than insightful.
If the second debate didn't help Obama, which it clearly did not, the third can only hurt him unless Romney comes up with some pearls of wisdom or stumbles badly, equally unlikely.
Jamie Zirkle October 22, 2012 at 07:12 pm
I love watching the debates, but there's no way I'm missing the Giants playing in a game 7 NLCS.
Carrie McLaughlin October 22, 2012 at 07:49 pm
I have watched every other Giant's game this season. Of course I am not going to miss a playoff Game 7!
edzel October 22, 2012 at 07:55 pm
Oh, the horrors, (my nod to Halloween) a final third foreign policy debate, a Game 7, that could be rained out and played tmw, Tuesday?, and a Monday Night Football
game. A great trifecta.
Louisa Hufstader (Editor) October 22, 2012 at 08:06 pm
It looks like Fox affiliate KTVU agrees with the Giants fans: The station is going with the Game 7 in its entirety and skipping the debate.
Robert Herrick October 22, 2012 at 08:30 pm
Game 7 of course!
Unfiltered Steve Simoneau October 22, 2012 at 08:42 pm
While I respect your interests in foreign policy, I hardly think that a government that has been around a mere 236 years with a developing culture has any idea how to advise or deal with a culture that has existed since 2800 BC. My personal belief of foreign policy is to respect their beliefs and culture, leave them alone, and let them work it out as they have for thousands of years.
Joseph Catindig October 22, 2012 at 10:53 pm
You mean there's a Giants game tonight? 8)
Louisa Hufstader (Editor) October 22, 2012 at 11:48 pm
Debate's over; and the game ... well, anyone dare to call it yet? Will we see our Giants take the pennant?
Lorie October 22, 2012 at 11:53 pm
Biting my nails!
Janette Brown October 23, 2012 at 12:13 pm
I switched channels. But first GO GIANTS....as for the debate Obama clearly the winner of this one.
Ken Pezzotti October 23, 2012 at 03:05 pm
That was a no brainer. Watched the Giants win the NL Championship! Who in their right mind would watch those two debate? If I want to see politicians tell lies, I'll just attend a Hercules City Council meeting!
Brent Marin October 24, 2012 at 12:56 am
Bravo to you, Ken for your rye comment and Bravo to the San Francisco GIANT's for such a great performance in the NLCS. GO GIANT's!
David F October 27, 2012 at 05:59 pm
I know this is over but I put preseason LA Clipper vs GS Warriors first. Then giants cardinals; then bears lions; then the debate.

Is there any way to remove the blogs from the news page? Blogs are not news. They are opinionRead More pieces, and I would like more news. thanks!
Keri Brenner (Editor) June 17, 2013 at 05:41 pm
Hi Beau and F: Yes, the &#39 are still there and not going away. I trust that tech people areRead More working on this...Sorry. And as far as the blogs being on the news stream, I can't change that except to keep the blogs mostly at the bottom and the news on top. The new platform is designed to highlight the blogs more than they were before. Occasionally if there is a timely, useful or highly newsworthy blog post I will move it up, but in general the news will be in the first 5 slots and the blog below. Hope that helps. Keri

It is easy to judge people from a distance. All of us have up and down times in life, none of usRead More have the same internal or external supports to deal with it all. Maybe those among us who feel superior could try to take a moment or more to see life from the perspective of someone who (even from a position of pain or vulnerability) has too much pride to accept the stigma of being in need of the social translation of "the lowest of the low" homeless shelter or addiction counseling. It feels good to try lifting others up rather than tearing them down; Maybe your smile or expression of something other than disgust could make a positive difference to move a person in need toward help.

I'd like to show appreciation to my grandfather on Father's Day. He taught me how to cook a roast,Read More garden, work with tools, use a shotgun and appreciate our surrounding waters. Always a patient man, my grandfather showed me so much. I got scared once when I broke a tool when we were building a skateboard ramp. He just replied with, at least you know not to do that anymore. I always admired how my grandfather loves my grandmother so much. That's old, true love. Fairy tail kinda stuff. Love we all want to grow old with. I love my grandpa with all my heart.

Loui Loui, it's called false pretenses and misleading claims. While I understand it's not theRead More editor's or tech's fault, releasing a product to the public as "New with better features!" shouldn't mean that it comes with glitches, bugs and frustration. And unlike Google+ and FB, Napa Valley Patch didn't "come out", we had a NVP that was working perfectly fine and Corporate Patch decided to upgrade. Can you imagine the ether-riots if FB did an "upgrade" full of glitches and bugs"?
Unfiltered Steve Simoneau June 13, 2013 at 10:54 pm
Actually, Loui, I left FB two years ago and haven't been back since. And while Patch and FB may beRead More "free" services they rely on users to exist. It's a symbiotic relationship, so both sides must be content for it to work efficiently.

Why the Hispanics need their own Chambers Of Commerce is a mystery to me. Racism is the promotion ofRead More one race above others. If I supported a White/Caucasian Chamber Of Commerce I'd be labeled a bigot and racist. One Chamber Of Commerce should suffice for ALL!
