The Napa Valley Give!Guide is accepting applications for the CanDo Spirit Award

Recognizing a young, exceptional non-profit employee in Napa County

[September 10, 2013] In a world where money matters, what does it take to commit oneself to being a professional employed in the non-profit sector? Passion? Drive? A dedication to service? The CanDo Spirit? Oh, yes.

With appreciation for these young professionals helping to build our communities, the Napa Valley Give!Guide team is pleased to announce the CanDo Spirit Award. This $1,000 cash prize, graciously presented by the Napa Valley Vintners, will recognize an exceptional, young employee serving the non-profit community.

“The Napa Valley Vintners has invested more than $110 million dollars with our community non-profit partners, focusing mainly on children’s education and community health,” says Becky Peterson, Community Relations Director and member of Napa Valley Vintners. “We look forward to encouraging a new wave of philanthropy from individuals and organizations within Napa County.”

Each Napa County non-profit organization is permitted to nominate one employee. Nominees for the CanDo Spirit Award must meet all of the following qualifications:

1.    They must be 30 years old or younger as of September 13, 2013;

2.    They must work for their NPO a minimum of 25 hours per week;

3.    They must have been employed in the Napa Valley non-profit sector for a minimum of one year as of September 13, 2013.

To apply, the NPO must complete the 2013 CanDo Spirit Award Application Packet. There are two forms: the Nominator's Form and the Nominee Form. The Nominator's Form must be filled out by someone other than the nominee, preferably a supervisor or the executive director. The Nominee Form is to be filled out by the nominee. Both forms are available online at http://bit.ly/14VWzOw.

Both forms must be returned via email to CanDoSpiritAward@gmail.com by 5 pm September 13, 2013 in order to be considered for the award. No late applications will be accepted.

The Give!Guide team will review applications and select one exceptional employee for recognition. In addition to the $1,000 cash prize presented by the Napa Valley Vintners, the awardee will be highlighted in the Give!Guide publication to be released in print on November 2nd  2013 (as a pull out in the Napa Valley MarketPlace Magazine), as well as on the Napa Valley Give!Guide website at NapaValleyGiveGuide.org, which launches November 1st 2013. The awardee will also be recognized at the Give!Guide kick-off party to be held in early November.
