Napa Valley Weekend Guide: Jan. 10-13, 2013

What's up this weekend in the Napa Valley? Here are some top tips on concerts and more; find more things to do in our Events calendar, where you can add your own local events any time.

Restaurant Month is under way with more than 40 dining establishments offering specials as low as a few dollars a course for a two-course meal, (alcohol, tax and tip not included). Here's a list with links to the participating restaurants.

The Napa On Ice Holiday Skating Rink is open daily at 2nd St & Coombs St, Napa$12 includes skate rental.

The weekly Napa Hoopers Free Family-friendly Saturday hoop jam happens at noon Saturdays in Veterans Memorial Park, 3rd St & Main St, Napa: free.

Napans who saw it in Santa Rosa have been raving about The Great American Trailer Park Musical — Catch it at 8 p.m. at the Napa Valley Playhouse, 1637 W Imola Ave, Napa$25. Also Friday and Saturday 8 p.m., Sunday 2 p.m.

Children’s photographer Sarah Sloboda creates an heirloom-quality portrait of your child in the picturesque environs of the V. Sattui Winery: 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., 1111 White Ln, Saint Helena. $60 per session includes a 30 percent charitable donation to Napa’s Community Resources for Children. 

A reception for  starts at 6 p.m. at the Napa City-County Library, 580 Coombs St, Napa: free.

At 7:30 p.m. it's the monthly open mic in the Black & White Center at Slack Collective Art Studios and Gallery, where resident artists are also opening their studios for the evening. (Among the performers: Napa Valley Patch editor Louisa Hufstader.)

The acclaimed Kronos Quartet hits the stage at 8 p.m. at the Napa Valley Opera House, 1030 Main St, Napa$40

It's another Sew Happy! January Free Family Fun Day at the Napa Valley Museum, 55 Presidents Cir, Yountville: free.

Mark Hummel's Blues Harmonica Blowout: Jimmy Reed Tribute, 8 p.m. at the Napa Valley Opera House, features a who's who of blues harpists: Kim Wilson, Kenny Neal, Lazy Lester, Little Charlie Baty, Rick Estrin & Joe Louis Walker. $25.

Live at Silo's - A Tribute to Elton John also starts at 8 p.m. at Silo's, 530 Main St, Napa$20.
