Napa Crossing South: What Stores Do You Want?

If a retail center is developed at Soscol and Kansas avenues in south Napa, what five businesses would you like to see established there? Tell us in the comments.

The real estate developer behind the Napa Crossing North shopping center is seeking to create another retail center at Soscol and Kansas avenues in south Napa, according to Napa City Senior Planner Kevin Eberle.

Plans show five small retail businesses in the future shopping center. Which stores would you like to see at this location? Tell us in the comments or email napavalley@patch.com.

Pacific Properties in Chico has submitted plans to build a center for small retail businesses at the soon-to-be-vacant site of Napa Ford.

The shopping center at the corner of Kansas and Soscol avenues will be called Napa Crossing South, Eberle said.

“The buildings will be similar to what is at Napa Crossing North.” he said. “At this time we don’t know what retail stores will occupy the center.”

Formerly a weed- and trash-ridden vacant lot at Trancas Street and California Boulevard, Napa Crossing North is now a bustling hub where Panera Bread and ULTA Beauty recently opened near Chipotle and Habit Burger. Sleep Train, Verizon, Vitamin Shoppe and Walgreens are also part of the north Napa mix.

The plan for Napa Crossing South shows five tenants in two buildings, Eberle said. “The smaller building will house one tenant and the larger will have four retailers.”

To serve customers, 333 parking places are planned; any exact timeframe for when construction will start and be completed is not known.

Michael's, Kirkland, Pier One or a Pottery Barn, Old Navy (?)
Louisa Hufstader (Editor) November 19, 2012 at 05:07 PM
How about a Pier One in north Napa, Wendy? They're supposed to be coming into the former site of Copperfield's in Bel Aire Plaza next year: http://napavalley.patch.com/articles/bel-aire-plaza-undergoing-more-changes
Penny November 19, 2012 at 06:56 PM
The problem with Pier One is they are very similar to Cost Plus and now I understand they own Cost Plus.

I want a bed Bath and Beyond!

Best Buy would do well at NP
Louisa Hufstader (Editor) November 20, 2012 at 12:22 AM
Do you really want a business that lost $1.2 billion last year? http://www.businessweek.com/news/2012-11-19/schulze-said-to-enlist-cerberus-to-help-cement-best-buy-takeover
MICHAEL WILSON "Republican Kid" November 20, 2012 at 12:52 AM
Louisa Best buy can make a come back it will take the founder getting back in charge.
Louisa Hufstader (Editor) November 20, 2012 at 01:06 AM
That would be good to see. I worked closely with Best Buy staff when creating EasyDisc, a budget CD and cassette music label I started and ran for Rounder Records back in the 1990s, and we enjoyed a great success with it. But things have really changed since then.

Yikes! - about the Best Buy loss. I think people are buying a lot of their electronics online nowadays. Serious competition nowadays for Brick and Mortar businesses.
Leslie Teeters Montoro November 20, 2012 at 03:51 AM
I'd like to see an REI go in there.
Elaine November 20, 2012 at 04:31 AM
Pier One is coming!! next year.. I would love another Peet's, a store like Homegoods, Tillys' (a clothier for the younger set), another Three Twins Ice Cream, ( they are at the Ozbow),
Mpineda November 20, 2012 at 05:05 AM
I would like to see a Burlington, Homegood, Michael's, Old Navy and maybe one resturant like Olive Garden.
Art Morris November 20, 2012 at 08:57 AM
I would like to see a good sporting goods store which has a little bit of everything like Dick's Sporting Goods. I would also like to see a Chick-Fil-A, Sonic and a good salad restaurant in Napa. Peets would be good.
MollyB November 20, 2012 at 09:40 PM
How about another Starbuck's, a couple of chain stores that you can find anywhere, and another drive-thru or two. That's what Napa really needs. God forbid they should consider a few locally owned businesses or restaurants.
Scott Yeager November 20, 2012 at 10:37 PM
Good luck.
Scott Yeager November 20, 2012 at 10:42 PM
I remember EasyDisc. Budget compilations. Most of the covers had a white background. I looked them up on Amazon and my memory was correct. For once.
Louisa Hufstader (Editor) November 20, 2012 at 10:54 PM
Wow, Scott, you remember EasyDisc! That name took forever to come up with, to the extent that the owners were calling it LouisaDisc and then WeezyDisc before we finally named it. The series cover design was also a major project; the designer who created it is now a college professor in Canada, I believe. We wanted to really distinguish it from the rest of the full-priced Rounder stuff. Off topic, I know, forgive me Napans!
Louisa Hufstader (Editor) November 20, 2012 at 10:54 PM
It would be nice if they didn't have to, that's for sure.
Scott Yeager November 20, 2012 at 11:03 PM
Why don't you want all the chain stores that every other shopping center / strip mall in the country? Why, oh why, do you want to be different? Or, the horror, unique?
Louisa Hufstader (Editor) November 20, 2012 at 11:08 PM
How about a Gillwood's?
Scott Yeager November 20, 2012 at 11:16 PM
I did better with the 25th Anniversary 2-CD compilations - Deep Blue, Louisiana Spice, Hand-Picked.
Art Morris November 21, 2012 at 07:16 AM
If I can get the money together, maybe I could open my golf shop again there. Of course I probably won't be able to get it at $1.00/sf like my last location.
MollyB November 21, 2012 at 04:23 PM
I was extremely disappointed in Napa Crossing North when it open up. Why a Habit Burger instead of Red Rock or Squeeze Inn? And Chipotle? Really? Do you know how many quality, authentic, unique, local Mexican restaurants with hard-working local owners would have thrived in that location?
Louisa Hufstader (Editor) November 21, 2012 at 05:10 PM
But why would Squeeze Inn and Red Rock want to move from their long-established locations nearby? Villa Corona, Frida's and the taco truck are also right in the neighborhood.
Art Morris November 22, 2012 at 05:58 AM
The thing is Molly, we already have two Red Rocks and a Squeeze In Burger. While I like the former, Habit burger is cheaper and tastes good.too. Some of us don't have a ton of cash and enjoy decent lower-priced options in Napa. Some people may disagree, but we need regional and national franchises to help keep the prices down. Locally-owned is great, but are generally priced higher. We can debate all night if their higher prices are worth it. I guess it's ultimately up to the consumer.
Raul April 13, 2013 at 05:06 AM
I think Peet's Coffee would be a great addition to the place and the area. Why would I want to go to north Napa for Peet's Coffee when I can get it closer to home? My wife says "Forever 21" also. Best Buy would be good, too. Or maybe a little kid's care place so that parents can go shopping and their kids can be entertained.
Art Morris April 13, 2013 at 05:57 AM
Raul, Raley's serves Peet's at their deli, so you don't have to go to Bel Aire to get a cup
Stacy Hill-Bratlien January 11, 2014 at 08:06 PM
I like to see a lululemon and a barre fitness center.
