I just—gosh, more than eight hours before the midnight deadline—finished my tax return, and was surprised at the outcome:
Instead of paying out, as I did last year with many a groan of complaint, I'm getting money back from both the state and federal governments this year.
It's no impressive sum, certainly not like winning the lottery. And I know it was always mine in the first place; the government was just taking care of it for me.
But it's money I wasn't expecting to see, and that always sets the imagination free: Mine is racing to several local restaurants, whose and could sop up my little refund in a few hours.
Are you looking forward to a tax refund? Or will you—as I did last year—absorb the bill by cutting back on something you enjoy?
