"Day for the Queen," Jazz Guitars Kick Off Napa Weekend

Looking for things to do in Napa this weekend? Check our Events calendar to find out what's going on, and add your own events. Here are some staff picks and we welcome your suggestions in the comments.

Here comes the weekend! 

Friday, Foundation presents the 35th Annual  at . It's a day of fun, food and dancing with tennis, golf, a fashion show, silent and live auctions, BBQ dinner and live music featuring David Martin's House Party. Prices vary; to register, visit www.queensfoundation.org/specialevents or call (707)257-4044.

Friday night, get in the swing when  at the  featuring Howard Alden, Howard Paul and Andreas Oberg all on guitars with Quentin Baxter on drums and Ben Tucker on bass. Admission, including a pre-concert tasting of the newest release of Miner Family Winery's 2009 Benedetto Signature Cabernet, is $30-$35 but you can get a discount with the code NVJS (Napa Valley Jazz Society). Doors open at 7 p.m.; come early and enjoy wine, beer & snacks on sale in the Cafe Theatre.

Saturday, go retro with the Main Street Reunion show of pre-1970s cars displayed in downtown Napa. Main Street and First Street will be closed starting at 5 a.m. to make way for hundreds of gleaming vintage vehicles. 

Saturday night, stay retro at the , 7 p.m. at the . owner (and Porchfest music coordinator) Thea Witsil is co-producing the show complete with dancing and prizes for the best dressed, best hair and best couple in the audience. $35-$40.

Sunday, the  performs a free concert at 3 p.m. at , a lovely place to listen to choral music. Baldwin, a choirmaster and organist from London, will perform organ selections from Bach, Handel, Elgar, Howells, Albinoni, Stanford, Whitlock, Mendelssohn, Baldwin, Guilmant, and others and the 22-member chorale will sing vocal compositions based on folk tunes, arranged or composed by Baldwin.
