Change of Format?

Has Patch changed its format? NapaValleyPatch used to report news and events in the Napa Valley. Lately I've seen stories from all over the country as well as surrounding areas. Is this the new norm?
When the Napa Valley Register began charging to read more than 10 articles a month I found NVPatch to be a good replacement.  Now, not so much.
