Slain CHP Officer Honored in Napa

Updated: Officer Kenyon Youngstrom, killed in the line of duty last week, was a member of the Golden Gate CHP unit, which includes Napa.

Napa firefighters, police and California Highway Patrol officers honored the family of Monday afternoon as a procession including his family passed through the city enroute to a private service in St. Helena.

Local CHP Officer Garret Ray said he knew Youngstrom because he served with the Golden Gate CHP unit, which includes Napa.

 after being shot Tuesday during a routine traffic stop on Interstate 680 in Alamo. The driver who pulled the gun, Christopher Boone Lacy of Corning, was shot and killed by another CHP officer, who has not been identified.

A memorial service in Vacaville is slated for 10 a.m. Thursday at The Mission Church, 6391 Leisure Town Road, with a reception to follow in The Mission gymnasium, according to the Vacaville Reporter.
