OBITUARY: Patricia Ann Hook, Napa Photographer, 71

Hook built a library of photos of the Napa Valley.

Born in 1942 in Jersey City, New Jersey, Patricia left this world for a place of peace, quiet and contentment on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 after a yearlong fight against breast cancer.

Arriving in Napa with family in 1973, Pat quickly realized a place ideal for photography and quickly discovered many beautiful sights and scenes to attack with her cameras. After a detour to Sacramento in 1978, the Hooks returned to Napa in 1993 in preparation of retirement and Pat commenced to build a library of some 5000+ photos of the Napa Valley and surrounding areas.

A long-time wish was completed in 2010 as she photographed the last of all the lighthouses from San Diego to the Canadian border.

Pat could be found out early in the morning as she followed and photographed the hot air balloons as they drifted above the valley and mustard season always kept the cameras busy. Her great smile, warm hugs and happy personality will be missed by all.

Pat is survived by husband of 51 years, Jerry, Son Jeff of Napa, Son Gary and Daughter-in-law Yvonne of Sacramento, Granddaughter Ashley Hook of Portland Oregon and Grandsons Jared and Adam Hook of Sacramento.

Knowing that passing was imminent, it was Pat's wish that all the family be together for Thanksgiving Day and celebrate life with happy remembrances.

The family will celebrate Pat's life with a private gathering, and ask that in lieu of flowers that any remembrances be made in her memory to the Kaiser Foundation Hospice Program, which has been so supportive and helpful during Pat's final weeks.
