NVOS watercolor and oil painter, Jeff Smith

By NVOS artist Robert Zlomke

NVOS artist Jeff Smith
is a plein air painter who accomplishes 90% of an oil painting in the field.  Painting in the most dramatic light requires being on site early in the morning or late in the afternoon, so it is important to be prepared with a bottle of wine and other provisions.  He likes to paint scenes from wine regions around the world, especially those in northern California.

Atmospheric perspectives in his paintings are done in very wet washes, fading to more opaque foregrounds of buildings and fields.  Jeff has a B.F.A. degree from the University of Puget Sound and has studied with recognized artists.

At NVOS 2013, Jeff’s studio will resemble a small fine arts gallery, with such items as watercolors and oil paintings;  wood block and intaglio prints;  and even extravagant bead weaving by NVOS artist Marilyn Smith.

You'll find Jeff's studio–turned–small–fine–art–gallery at Studio #3, at 425 Jefferson Street, in Napa, California.

Robert Zlomke makes custom wood furniture in Napa, mixing hand and machine methods to achieve unique visual and tactile results.  He is exhibiting in Studio #1 at NVOS 2013.  www.zlomkefurniture.com
