NVOS photographer, Teri Sandison

By NVOS artist Robert Zlomke

NVOS artist Teri Sandison
makes photographs of sacred sites in Asia, to explore the deep connections of humans to both nature and spirituality over thousands of years.  She documents the physical spaces where the rituals of living and dying are performed, and she notes the ways that even these sacred spaces are subject to the inevitability of change by chronicling them over time.

Her photographic prints are limited to editions of 6 and printed on Hahnemuhle etching paper using archival pigment inks.  The painterly effect is reminiscent of a lithograph, reflecting her training as a painter.  Visitors to her home and studio may see the research materials she uses to document her subjects, as well as a large collection of images.  Her most recent work is from China, 2013.Teri’s work was the subject of a one-person exhibit at Robert Mondavi Winery earlier this year entitled Ancient Textures and Sacred Landscapes, which included thirty large photographic prints.

You can visit Teri during Open Studios and see her work at Studio #29, 3960 Hagen Road, in Napa, California. You can also view her photographs online at www.terisandison.com.
