NVOS painter and sculptor in steel, Zaza Fetterly

By NVOS artist Cathryne Trachok

There is a peace and joy in the artworks of Napa Valley Open Studios Artist Zaza Fetterly. The daughter of an artist, Zaza has always lived her art. Her studio is also her home, and the line between the two just does not exist. The mixture of both sculpture and paintings in one studio seems natural, as both mediums represent Zaza’s grace and gentle outlook, as well as her whimsical traits.

Trained classically, influenced by Michelangelo, DaVinci, Paul Klee, Raoul Dufy, Matisse, and her mother, Zaza’s work portrays life, ordinary tasks inside a joy-filled home, love of children and pets, and an appreciation of all that life entails.  When asked about her inspirations, she talks about friends and family, daily encounters, and her relationship with God. “God is the source of my inspiration as I always set my intention to abide in Him before I work,” Zaza affirms.

Napa is lucky to have Zaza participating in this year’s Open Studios; her work is featured in homes all over the world. She has exhibited all over Europe as well as the U.S., and is a lifetime member of two French Salons: The Salon International des Beaux Arts, and the Salon des Independants.

Zaza’s Studio #21 can be found on the Open Studios map, or just stop by 2 Golden Gate Circle, Napa, for one of the most delightful visits of the tour.Zaza Fetterly’s work can be previewed on her website, at www.zazafetterly.com.
