NVOS monotype and collage artist, June Lee

By NVOS artist Davina Rubin

NVOS artist June Lee
creates monotypes, and collages from recycled monotypes. She receives inspiration from the art styes of Diebenkorn, Hoffman, Rothko and the artists of the fifties.

“I like the element of surprise and spontaneity of monotypes, especially when the press meets the painted surface, and results in an unexpected image," she says of her work.

June has received awards for her work at the Napa County Fair and the Marin Fair. A visit to the studio where June’s work is exhibited – Studio #41 – provides a glimpse into the work of a group of artists working in a variety of media, including sculpture, clay works, oil paintings, print-making, dry point, monotype and mixed media.

You'll find June and her colleagues at Studio #41, at Napa Valley College, Upper Valley Campus, at 1088 College Avenue in St. Helena, California. You can also see her work online at www.JuneLeeartwork.com.

Artist, writer and actress Davina Rubin uses acrylics and mixed media to create abstract works on both canvas and paper.  She paints in her small loft in Napa, and writes a philosophic blog atwww.davinarubin.com. You can also see some of her artwork at www.davinarubinart.weebly.com, and you can visit her at Studio # 42 during Napa Valley Open Studios.
