NVOS metal sculpture and repurposed metal artist, Ginny Davis

By NVOS artist Cathryne Trachok

Napa Valley Open Studios artist Ginny Davis says “I am a metal artist—most of the time.” And that is how I first saw her work, her amazing, whimsical metal art that just makes you smile.  And as we all do, we grow and change, and so Ginny has added that growth to her artwork.

“Artists grow in several directions—the older I get, the freer I am to express myself. Art flows from the garden, events in my life, both funny and sad, and of course, DREAMS.”  Inspired by everything, her works are revelations. It is hard to drive by Ginny’s studio and avoid getting into an accident—you just have to slow down to look, garden art everywhere!

One is always amazed at the diversity of her work, from bird houses to dancing women, it’s all there, and all wonderful.  Ginny has been a staple not only of Open Studios, but of art in the Napa Valley for many years. Her art brings people in, and her conversations welcome you.

Her art is in collections all over the country, from Alaska to Montana to Illinois and everything in between, including the children’s wing of a Chicago hospital.

Come see the fantastic world Ginny Davis has created at her studio, and enjoy the smiles she shares. It is worth the visit! She can be seen at Studio #10, 1901 Spencer St., in Napa.

Cathryne Trachok works from, in, and around the Napa Valley, using her vision to create artworks celebrating the beautiful world we live in. You can meet her and see her work at Studio #4 during Open Studios, and you can see her work online at www.catrachokstudios.com.
