NVOS jewelry artist in fused glass and mixed media, Cathy Kough

By NVOS artist Davina Rubin

NVOS Artist Cathy Kough
has been working with stained glass for over thirty five years. She cuts dichroic glass and fusible glass to create beautiful glass jewelry.

Her art pieces are then fused in a kiln at temperatures of 1200 degrees to 2000 degrees to combine multiple glass pieces together into a single piece.  Each of her fused "Wearable Art" jewelry designs is a one of a kind original.

Cathy continues to add new knowledge to her art repertoire.  She was a student of Paul Marioni at Dale Chihuly's Pilchuck Glass School in Stanwood, Washington north of Seattle.  Her creative education has continued to include sandblast etching on glass and metal smithing courses.

Some of her new work includes hammered and textured metal accents of sterling silver, copper and brass.  She also enjoys etching metals using ferric chloride acid to add intricate patterns and texture to brass and copper pieces.

Cathy combines some of the ferric chloride etched metals with her fused glass jewelry designs. Cathy's jewelry is on display at the "Artists of the Valley Gallery" 1307 First Street in downtown Napa.  Stop by Studio #32 during Open Studios to see her latest original creations.

You'll find Cathy Kough and her wearable artwork at Studio #32, at 3151 Sunnydale Drive, in Napa, California.  You can preview Cathy's work online, too, at www.CathyKough.com.
