NVOS fused mosaic Glass wall artist, Jenni Grunschlag

By NVOS artist Karen Lynn Ingalls

New NVOS artist Jenni Grunschlag brings a sense of joy and whimsy to her fused mosaic glass wall art, evident in the images you see here. Glass is a magical medium, she says, that allows her to create work that makes people smile.

After college, Jenni became an interior designer and professional member of ASID, and worked in the collections of the DeYoung Museum; Frank Lloyd Wright homes in Oak Park, Illinois; and in Bay Area private collections. She studied glass with many Bay Area glass artists in the process of learning the medium.

In Jenni's studio, you'll find all the tools of a working glass artist – two glass kilns, power tools, and a large central table (where, if you're lucky, she may demonstrate techniques). And where will you find all this, and her art, too? At Studio #18 – Lollipop Glass – 26 Big Leaf Court, Napa – and online at www.lollipopglass.com.

Inspired by the way glass brings light and color into a space, Jenni says the sun shining through glass makes her feel happy. She dreamt of being an artist from the time she held her first box of crayons, and has worked in many media, getting her B.A. in Fine Arts from City College in New York, and her M.A. in Textile Design from U.C. Davis. But it was glass that finally captured her heart – and she especially enjoys using the medium to represent delicious candy and bakery goods in enticing window displays.

NVOS artist Karen Lynn Ingalls writes for this blog and our Facebook page (seen it yet?) and paints, paints, paints. You can see her artwork during Open Studios at Studio #48, with Sequoia Buck, west of Calistoga, and online at www.KarenLynnIngalls.com. She also teaches art classes and workshops, which you can find at www.NapaValleyArtWorkshops.com.
