NVOS acrylic painter Nancy A. Tesch

By NVOS artist Karen Lynn Ingalls

This year we welcome new NVOS artist Nancy A. Tesch to Open Studios. Nancy paints in acrylic on canvas; her favorite subject is landscapes, but she also paints portraits and birds, and occasionally animals.

Her inspirations? She says they are, "the dynamic Napa views, the beauty of the trees and light, and the changing of nature in all its glory." Growing up with an artist mother, Nancy began to paint at a young age, though her own style has evolved into something very different.

Working from her own or her husband's photographs, Nancy loves the tactile, sensory experience of painting on canvas – the creaminess of the paint, the roughness of the canvas as the paint brushes across it. Each painting takes her through the gamut of emotion – from loving each piece at the beginning, to hate and despair – and finally to love again, when she is able to delight in the end product.

Nancy has been the Napa Valley Art Association's Artist of the Month three times, and Artist of the Year once. You can find her artwork in the Artists of the Valley Gallery on First Street in Napa, and see her work online at http://www.nvart.org/client_profile.html?ID=197. And during Open Studios, you can find her at Studio #24, 723 S. Minahen Street in Napa, with Sherrell Harper.
