NVOS acrylic and watercolor painter, Connie Wright

By NVOS artist Karen Lynn Ingalls

NVOS artist Connie Wright
, well known to upvalley art students, but new to Open Studios this year, intends that her paintings be more than a layer of pigment applied to a surface – that the arrangement of colors and shapes create a mood, and speak to the viewer.

Connie's paintings are inspired by her world travels. Coming back home, she takes a fresh look at her photographs, and changes and rearranges its elements to make a personal statement in the painting.

She also likes to draw from a group of photographs, taking elements from each photo, such as lighting and color, and then put the drawing away and paint from memory.

You can see Connie's studio, with its beautiful walled courtyard and flower-filled garden, at Studio #45, 2400 Silverado Trail North, in St. Helena, California. You can also find Connie's work online at: www.napaartistconniewright.com.

NVOS artist Karen Lynn Ingalls writes for this blog and our Facebook page (seen it yet?) and paints, paints, paints. You can see her artwork during Open Studios at Studio #48, with Sequoia Buck, west of Calistoga, and online at www.KarenLynnIngalls.com. She also teaches art classes and workshops, which you can find at www.NapaValleyArtWorkshops.com.
