Forgive me for not posting my blog on Monday! We have been busy at OHOME headquarters preparing for our Showcase Tours that will be on Saturday, October 13 from 11am to 2pm, and YOU are invited!

The topic of this blog is Education. My week has been spent putting together “Thought Bubbles” for our OHOMEs to use partly as a self-guided tour, but also as an exercise in taking Technical Jargon and putting into terms everyone can understand. It’s easy to talk about HVACs and HRV systems, coupled with Photovoltaic systems saves energy…Huh? It might be better say something like – Save for a regular vacation instead of a regular utility bill – this building doesn’t waste you money!  Or – Heat transfers through these windows when you need it – The awnings block the hot summer sun and let in the warm winter sun!

I promise you that if you attend our Showcase Open OHOME tour you will learn more about building sustainably and maybe pick up a few pointers on how to improve the energy, water and health efficiencies of your own home!

We invite you to tour our OHOME and learn about all the Sustainable Elements we used in the buildings - Both buildings qualify for LEED ratings - the Series 1200 will qualify for LEED Platinum and the Series 600 qualifies for LEED Gold, interestingly we missed LEED Platinum because we elected to make this an All Electric OHOME. Your tour can be self-guided by using our “thought bubbles” around the homes, or one of our staff can take you on a tour and answer all of your questions!

We hope to see you on Saturday at 1230 Darling Street – We have two homes and a garage on the lot!
