A sunny day made for perfect weather Saturday for youngsters eager to ice skate at the Napa on Ice outdoor rink in downtown Napa.

Operators Nancy Mott along with husband Peter Mott, Napa's Vice Mayor, were busy with final details.

Nancy Mott reported that this year they have 250 pairs of brand new skates for visitors.

The price of $12 includes skate rental and unlimited skating time. Also, for beginner skaters, there are "skate buddies" that look like plastic walkers without wheels that young and very young skaters can use to slide along the slippery ice and still stay on their feet-well most of the time.

Nancy Mott advised that they also have a teen night on Friday nights that draws junior high and high school aged skaters for good clean fun under the lights and with music.

Hours of operation are noon until 10 p.m. on non-school days and 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. on school days.

The rink is located at Second and Coombs streets, Napa.
