The former Copia building in east Napa came to life for the spectacular Napa Valley Film Festival Gala Thursday night as thousands filled the Lifestyle Pavilion tent and the sprawling building to enjoy food, drink, music and entertainment, dancing, friends and film.

Gala goers had to stand in line in the cold Napa air, but once inside -- after strolling the red carpet scene with lights and pretend photographers -- guests gained access to the Lifestyle Pavillion, a tent set up in the parking lot for wine and beer, chefs, entertainment and sponsors ready for a night of fun.

The gala went into high gear with guest going into the main building where the former American Center for Food, Wine and the Arts was transformed into a giant nightclub scene with beverages available in many forms, food galore, a main stage for bands and several other performers.

The upstairs was transformed into a lounge.

But the real stars were the people and fashions that gathered for the gala from fur coats to cowboy hats, some dressed in New Year's eve attire, some in glamor and some in casual -- but all eager to have fun at the film festival.
