Saturday morning in New York City's Times Square, a Napa native with a winning record on the cooking contest circuit is making a nationally-televised bid at a $10,000 prize for preparing a burger.
Competitive cook Jamie Brown Miller has won gold at the , and other cooking contests. She's also a delightful food writer and recipe creator who has contributed some memorable columns to Napa Patch.
Now, Miller is one of six finalists in the Johnsonville No Ordinary Burger Contest, which has flown her to New York for the cook-off Saturday morning at the Fox News Channel studios in Times Square.
Under the camera lights, Miller will prepare her Amazing Asian Burger with Spicy Sesame Spread, using Johnsonville bratwurst patties.
"The Asian flavors really stand up to the savory flavors of the pork patty burger," she said.
The competition will be broadcast live between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. Eastern time — that's 4 a.m. to 7 a.m. here in Napa — on Fox and Friends/Fox News Channel, according to the Johnsonville website.
After the contest, Miller, her husband Kevin and his daughter will spend an extra day in New York to explore the city for the first time as a family.
"Every time I go to New York it's for a cookoff," she said.
