René (played by Mexican actor Gael García Bernal) works in advertising in Chile during the 1988 political campaign that will help decide whether General Augusto Pinochet will be elected to another eight-year term as Chile’s president. This campaign is the first one in which advertising tactics came to be widely used. No was the only film from Latin America that was nominated for the 2013 Oscars.
