The JAZZ @ 7 VOCAL ENSEMBLE, directed by Craig Bond is part of the St. Helena Choral Society. This vocal jazz ensemble is made up of 9 singers, a 3 piece rhythm section and a 4 piece horn section. The group has done many concerts in the Napa Valley including various wineries, the Annual Napa Valley Wine Auction, The Napa Valley Opera House and the Silo’s Jazz Club. Their repitoire includes vocal jazz, swing, blues, gospel, pop and bebop. Most of the members of the jazz choir are graduates of St. Helena High School and were members of Craig Bond’s vocal music program. Craig recently retired from the St. Helena School District after a 39 year career as its choral instructor. He directed the elementary, middle and high school choral programs.
The St. Helena High School Jazz Choir was the district’s premier vocal group that received numerous awards at jazz festivals from Seattle to Reno to Southern California. The choir has traveled to Europe on 12 different occasions doing concerts in England, France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria and most recently Croatia and Italy.
The Jazz @ 7 vocal ensemble has been invited to perform with the Rochin, France Jazz Band in June of 2013. The St. Helena Choral Society was formed by Craig in 2007 and includes the St. Helena Children’s Chorus, The St. Helena Teen Choir, The Jazz @ 7 Vocal Ensemble and the St. Helena Chamber Singers.
